The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has called on its staff to go the extra mile in delivering efficient, transparent and responsive services to consumers, industry stakeholders and other members of the public.

The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NCC, Dr Aminu Maida, made the call in his message to mark Customer Service Week 2026, themed “Going the Extra Mile.”

Maida said customer service remained central to the Commission’s mandate, stressing that every policy, decision and regulatory intervention must ultimately improve the experience of stakeholders and contribute to the development of Nigeria’s communications sector.

According to him, going the extra mile in service delivery requires staff to listen carefully, respond promptly, explain decisions clearly and take ownership of issues until they are properly resolved.

“Going the Extra Mile” has a practical meaning in our daily work. It means listening carefully, responding promptly, explaining our decisions clearly, and following through on commitments,” Maida said.

He noted that in an increasingly digital environment, consumers and stakeholders expect services that are efficient, transparent and responsive, adding that while technology and systems were important, empathy, sound judgment and professionalism remained critical to delivering quality service.

The NCC boss said every inquiry or complaint represents a person seeking an answer, solution or reassurance that their concerns were being taken seriously.

Maida commended NCC staff for their contributions across various areas, including consumer complaints, engagement with licensees, regulatory processes, communications and internal services.

He particularly highlighted the importance of internal service, saying the quality of service provided among staff and departments directly affects the Commission’s ability to serve the public effectively.

“When we share information promptly, respond to colleagues and work effectively across departments, we help the whole Commission perform better,” he said.

The NCC CEO also acknowledged the role of consumers, industry partners and other stakeholders in helping the Commission identify areas requiring improvement.

He urged staff to pay attention to feedback and take concrete steps to address recurring complaints, delays and processes that create unnecessary difficulties for stakeholders.

“As we mark this week, I encourage each of us to identify something we can improve in our daily work,” Maida said.

He urged NCC personnel to treat every stakeholder with courtesy and respect, uphold high standards of integrity and take ownership of their responsibilities.

According to him, such everyday actions would help build greater trust in the Commission and strengthen public confidence in its regulatory activities.

Maida thanked NCC staff for their dedication and commitment to serving others, urging them to carry the spirit of “Going the Extra Mile” beyond Customer Service Week and into their daily responsibilities throughout the year.

He wished staff, consumers and stakeholders a happy Customer Service Week 2026.

The NCC Executive Vice Chairman/CEO gave the message in Abuja on October 6, 2026.
